1 Malaysia National Horse Show

1 Malaysia National Horse Show 2011 80km CEI 1*

This event will take place in Paya Indah Wetland, Dengkil, Selangor.
the race is programmed to start at 4am and we are leaving today!
just me & hubby as the team manager, because the rider+horse+groom already left 2 days ago.
bigger responsibilities taking care of 4 performance horses here, yauuw! dat is why we can't leave too early.

a lil info :
1st Prize ; RM15,000.00

okey tu je. hadiah nom2,3,4, sah-sah makin kurang kan. bak kata Big Boss saya, nombor lain selain nombor satu tak penting. ada ke org tanye sape org kedua pegi bulan? takdak kann~~? so only 1st place matters. (mata duitan tak?)

tunggu aku di pintu syurga sayang...

*entry emosional*

Sylva died, yesterday. It was an accident, one that can be avoided, actually. bukan la nk ckp salah sape2, cuma nya kalau apply proper horse care, accident macam ni boleh la dielakkan. tapi kalau dah ajal dia, pergi tetap pergi jugak.

sedih bila mengenangkan kuda yang pernah ditunggang, yang extra bagus, extra baik, dah mati.

rider & horse ; they have such a bond that can't be explained. it is not just an animal, it is not just something to ride, it is...something much more than that.

Yesterday evening, Sylva was saddled up because her owner decided to come & ride her. Common thing in any polo club to leave the fully saddled horses tied to a still pole@ wall with the reins or sometimes they put head collars. So was Sylva when she had a major shock of another horse, that makes her bolted and rear up and struggled to release the knot, and finally.....fell on the floor with horsepower. imagine 500kgs creatures falling off. she hit her head very hard against the floor. and died at once. concussion in the head & lung may probably be the reason of the blood coming out from her mouth & nostrils.

tak semua orang yang terlibat dengan kuda tahu cara betul mengendalikan kuda. inilah akibatnya.

puncanya senang aje, budak2 penjaga kuda tu ikat mati tali kuda tu yang menyebabkan dia guna seluruh tenaga untuk melepaskan diri bila terkejut, and bila tali dah putus, bayangkan lah jatuh terhempas ke lantai dengan saki-baki tenaga yang di guna untuk melepaskan diri tadi. nangka buruk wa cakap lu! kalau pun Sylva survive, dia xkan hidup lama sbb most of her major structure will be badly damaged by the fallen.

fall. again. and again. jatuh. lagi. dan lagi.

title dwibahasa. pooodah!

sungguh tidak pernah malu saya bagitahu orang saya jatuh. tidak ada apa yang perlu dimalukan. Ianya berpunca dari kecuaian sendiri.
previous entry, ingat lagi tak? pasal melatih kembali ex-race horse kan?

setakat jatuh biasa sangat. walau dah beberapa tulang patah, beberapa retak dan bakal patah pun, semangat saya untuk menunggang tidak pernah pudar. tidak walau sedikit. my passion will never fade off.

Re-train an Ex-race horse

DaQalai'e, my horse is actually was a racer. he retired at the age of 7...quite long time he had in racing field because most of the race horses start their career at 3 years old and get deleted by the age 4 or 5 if they didn't performed well, injured etc..

he had not been much an easy-going horse since he arrived and he is well-known at the club by nickname such as " kuda gila", "kuda samseng" etc because of his refusal to many things we ask him to do. those stable boys found it hard to work with him, because, there was a time both of us(me & hubby) couldn't ride him because we're focusing more on Sylva, and we pay the boys to ride & train him. but, from one to two, two to three stable boys we hired, all of them can't disciplined DaQalai'e and end up laid on the ground thrown by him... ;P

actually, he had been ridden by 7 person so far, me & hubby, 4 stable boys and 1 friend. 6 person end up "makan pasir" with him. the only person who never fall is his friend, who like to work with ex-racer and owned few at home, and one of his ex-racer won a race organized by locals. see the entry here. but, apparently that is not something good, though. those who rode him & fell mostly because we fought the horse, but this one person, never fought the horse's demand. he just follow all the decision that horse made. if right, he goes right, if left, he goes left, if the horse rushed to the gate & stable ; he ride far in the field, keeping distance from the gate.

I so much feels like, there is no use letting a person who couldn't discipline a horse to ride our horse. wasting time. and to be the climax of that person's "trying to be a trainer", DaQalai'e had a back pain & wounded on the right side of his mouth. Ever since then, I urged my hubby to focus more on DaQalai'e himself. and after gathering his old equipments, we finally managed to get a complete set for lunging. includes of a lunging whip, cavesson, & a lunging rein.

31st Jan is the 1st day we started working with him...and thank GOD, he is so amazing to work with. it makes me cry and keep apologizing for the past 5-6 months that we had ignore his talent.

at the first 10 minutes, he actually bolted a little bit..but that is normal...he is freaking out to see the long whip, and moreover, we don't have proper lunging ring there...so we just lunge him in a square paddock, so he quite wanted to draw his own line apart from obeying his trainer's circle.

he is rushing to the gate...look at the trainer's hand, both is holding him back into the circle

see the stress on the rein...and the cavesson is pulled to his right

after 15 minutes......

he lowered his head, which is a good sign of acceptation..can see loop of the rein

Finally....obeying orders quietly, no more refusal, and managed to keep his legs on the track all the time. and quite exhausted.

DaQalai'e maybe saying "no body ever make me work this much. i'll throw them away first before the could make me work my ass this long.(40 minutes). but this man...pheww! he made me work without bothering to be on me, and held a long whip in his hand! OMG!!"

DaQalaie is having back pain.

my horse is having back pain. sedih woo. i have'nt been riding him for almost 6 months now.
ingat2 balik nak naik la tapi saki belakang pulak....
kena rehat dulu lah. incik asben dah inject 2 kali.
mungkin seminggu-dua rest, okey kot.
lagi cepat recover kalau betul2 rest. tapi entah la...kadang2 ada orang yang terlebih rajin, nak train kuda orang lain sampaikan kuda sakit pun still naik gak.

tapi, Insya ALLAH..sakit belakang DaQalaie xserius mane.
**jangan percaya Doktor Babi tu cakap.

2011 planning

its end of the year! so the east coast-ers are having monsoon, and a whole day without water falling from the sky is a bonus! especially for us, me & asben = horse riders.
because, we can ride twice on that bright day. yeay!
owhh...how i wish we have indoor arena, so that we can still work the horse even raining.

usually, if it is not a-whole rain day, it will be either dawn to morning or evening till midnight rain.
so, if the rain fells in the morning, we ride in the evening and opposite so.

if the day is bright, we ride twice. we have to take as much opportunities as we can, since 2011 is juat around the corner. and I am going to rebuild my career in endurance riding, starting from the very first month in the new year!! cheer up!

and 2011 also promise a great event for ladies rider in Malaysia. by the end of the year, there will be Ladies Challenge which consist of 80 & 120km ride.

according to the EAM Events Calendar 2011, 28th January will be the season opening endurance ride! held in Terengganu. and I will work my gut out to make sure I participate in that ride and slowly moving forward and upward to place myself qualify for the Ladies Challenge. which requires me to participate & complete 2x 40km, and 2x 80km. with the almost-monthly endurance will be held, I promise I will. I hope and I pray that Allah will ease things for me. I really want to be back in the sports again....Insya ALLAH.

pray for me too. will ya?it might be my biggest achievements in life. :)

as for my asben, he is looking forward to place himself in the list for representing Malaysia, once again for the race in Florac, France in September. its the European challenge, I think. (entah la, lupa plak). and to be able to do so, he must complete a 160km ride, with competitive speed. and the nearest 160km event will be in March.

sounds like a busy year awaits us right? and again, another not a-baby-year. hah hah! shhhh..keep silence. what to do. i wish to achieve smaller victory first(in horse field), than the biggest one(having kids?!). which also gonna cost me my life. heeeuuuu. creepy. (<- ini tindakan tidak bermoral yang selalu saya terbuat ; menakutkan diri sendiri. plis don't try this at home)

wish us luck.
eh look, its 5pm already!. oh no! i'm gonna be late for riding session. oh today, is morning rain day. till next en3, bye bye nobody.

Good Rider vs Good Driver.

A rider, is basically a person who ride horses.

A driver, is a person who drive vehicles.

There are few things in common about these two.

  • We sit on a moving thing. Whether it is four-legged or four-wheeled.
  • Take control. Stay focus but in the same time, enjoy the ride.
  • You need to take special courses/workshop to know how to drive/ride them. You don’t just know how to.
  • We just not ride them, we actually need to take care of them; bath them, feed/fuel them, keep their legs/tires out of holes, rock, nails etc..
  • The higher price you bought them, the higher cost of maintenance it will take.
  • We love them more when we ride/drive them. Trust me on this one. Especially if the perform as you pleased.
  • Both driving and riding field have competitions, which need synchronization between Horse & Rider, Cars & Driver. Naah, cars doesn’t need to be suited

And few major difference ;

  • Riders need to be gentle. Horses does have feelings, but cars don’t. Except cute little blue Volkswagen Herbie 69.
  • Riders also need to know the right working time & length for horses. Cars are basically engine operated but a horse is obviously living creatures. Not a machine.
  • If a car’s tires punctured, it can be replaced. But for horse; No legs, No horse.
  • Cars go right when you bring the steering right. Sometimes, horses have their own choices of path to go. And they never tell you until it’s to late.

People say, if we want to be a good driver/rider we need to assure that we can handle various type of vehicles and horses. Since my first riding lesson back in 2005, I think I have been ridden many-many kind of horses and they all varies in size & most importantly different temperament. Size doesn’t matter, right?. From local ponies to imported ponies, from anglo-arabian & Arabian, Thoroughbred ; from many-many athletics history like Polo and X-races. and I rode them for many-many purposes, dressage, jumping, bare-back racing, bare-back horseball, a little bit of Polo trial, and last but not least, my favorite discipline ; endurance.

The thing is, I almost fell off a horse this evening!! She rears many times and I went total pale and after a few attempts bringing her to the gate, I gave up and dismounted.

I feel less confidence and helpless. It had been 3 months since my outdoor riding. So, I’m losing my confidence again.

Am I not a good rider yet?

Maybe.

Good rider is not achieved when you can stay on horse back while galloping along the beachside or when you ride large horses, with your small size. And also doesn’t matter you ride for how long daily, or you a beginner with a gut, doing advanced rider stuff and etc…

It takes forever to be a good rider. And the accreditation is from others. No one should claim themselves good.

Even psycho-path doesn’t admit they are mentally unstable.
