i rode a lil cutiey mutiey pony belong to a friend. i should be riding Qalai'e actually...but hubby insisted to ride together. and i will be awkward if he ride that pony and i ride Qalai'e.
it must be so funny. it will be six-legged horse instead of four. ha ha
that pony i rode, is a beginner. that 40km was its first ever in life. and he completed successfully.
that was the first time i ride that horse (Ajill Putera). he is quite ok for a new horse. there was a phrase "if you want to know someone, take a look at who they be friend with." -> betul ke tidak? entah la. tapi lebih kurang macam tu lahh...the point is, Qalai'e also become a good boy during the ride, because his accompany is a good boy.
we actually kind of expecting those two guys would at least, jogs all the way of the first 5km. but thank god..they are as calm as home ridden. and the key point is, if you want to avoid struggling at the starting, take a lil' time for you and your horse ; let all or almost all competitors go first and you can slowly & clamly depart after 5-7 mins after flag off but don't take too long, it will be time wasting. (All participants are given 15 mins after the flag off)
we completed the 40km with average speed 9.8kmh. we done faster than that actually, but we spent a lot of time at the last water point coz our horses were like can't get enough of the water in the tank. they drank like hell, which made a sound like we drink water at the bottom of a glass, with straw. sllluuurrppp. sllluuurrppp.
p/s ; there were a lot of participants cheating, too. they took shortcut since they was no Check Point for 40km. but, who cares? remember, 40km is preparation for further distance. you won't get good result if you keep cheating like this and your horse will never get the fitness they need..
